Liverpool’s reward for their dramatic victory over Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup is a fourth round tie with Swansea City…

Liverpool will take on Swansea City at Anfield in the next round of the Capital One Cup.

The Reds squeezed through to round four after last night’s epic 14-13 victory over Middlesbrough on penalties.

Over in South Wales, Swansea impressively dispatched Liverpool’s Merseyside neighbours Everton 3-0 at the Liberty, courtesy of goals from Nathan Dyer, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Marvin Emnes.

Both sides have won the trophy in recent seasons – Liverpool in 2012 and The Swans a year later – and have an obvious connection in Kop boss Brendan Rodgers, who swapped clubs two summers ago.

Gary Monk’s men, who entered the competition a round earlier than their next opponents, defeated Rotherham 1-0 in the previous round.

The fixture will be played on either the 28th or 29th of October.
