Liverpool Football Club have announced a two-year extension to their existing contract with shirt sponsors Standard Chartered Bank…
Standard Chartered will remain Liverpool’s main sponsor beyond the 2013-14 season outlined in the original deal.
The club’s new agreement with the bank, whose logo has appeared on Liverpool’s kits since July 2010, will run until the end of the 2015-16 season with the option to extend further.
Although no financial details have been released it is expected the revised contract will see a slight increase in the £20 million a year the Reds currently receive.
Commenting on the extended tie-up, Billy Hogan, chief commercial officer at Anfield, told Liverpoolfc.com: “When Standard Chartered first came on board we knew we found a partner that shares our passion for community and desire to make a positive difference. We are delighted to announce the extension of our partnership, which shows the belief and continued commitment to the work that we are doing together and the values that we share.”
Peter Sands, group chief executive of Standard Chartered PLC, said: “Our sponsorship of Liverpool Football Club has proved successful for both parties and we are delighted to be extending our partnership.
“Liverpool are hugely popular in the markets where we do business, and we are excited about the opportunity to continue to work with this fantastic club and their passionate fans.”
Comendably, over the three years of the partnership to date, a number of award-winning social responsibility campaigns have been devised by the two parties to highlight global issues such as preventable blindness, empowerment for girls and HIV awareness.
