Liverpool will conclude their pre-season preparations this summer with a friendly against Borussia Dortmund at Anfield…

Liverpool FC have today announced that Borussia Dortmund will visit Anfield for a pre-season friendly on Sunday, August 10.

The game, scheduled for a 12.15pm BST kick-off, will provide Brendan Rodgers and his players with a final chance to fine-tune ahead of the new season, which gets underway the following weekend.

Liverpool last met the German outfit 13 years ago, prevailing 2-0 in a Champions League encounter courtesy of goals from Vladimir Smicer and Stephen Wright.

The match is one of just six meetings in the respective histories of the two clubs; Dortmund won arguably the biggest game of all – a 2-1 triumph in the 1966 Cup Winners’ Cup final.

Like the Reds, Jurgen Klopp’s men finished runner-up in their domestic league last season and the two sides could potentially be drawn together in next season’s Champions League.

2014 Pre-Season Schedule
July 19: AWAY vs. Preston North End
July 23: AWAY vs. Roma (Boston)
July 27: Away vs. Olympiacos (Chicago)
July 30: AWAY vs. Manchester City (New York)
August 2: AWAY vs. AC Milan (Charlotte)
August 10: HOME vs. Borussia Dortmund
