Rumours – Sami Going

It’s believed that Sami Hyypia is going to reject the offer of a new one year contract to stay with Liverpool. The Finnish international has been at Anfield for 10 years and Rafa Benitez is interested in extending his stay for another season as well as offering him a coaching role, but with his chances of playing football set to be limited even more than they have this season, he will most probably move on.

Fulham, Newcastle and Stoke were all interested in the 35 year old in January and all, unless Newcastle are relegated, could show an interest in the defender again in the summer with Fulham thought to be the most likely to do so.

Whatever happens with Sami, if he stays or goes, he will still go down in history as being one of the best bargains we have ever had as his £2.5m signing from Willem II in 1999 has been money incredibly well spent.
