Liverpool Set To Be Handed Huge Setback In Race For The Title

|

Handily placed in the race for the Premier League title and set to end a 29-year wait to win, again, the top-flight title, the last thing Liverpool need is to see their squad depleted.

The January transfer window has been and gone and Jurgen Klopp obviously made a conscious decision not to bring in anybody clearly feeling that he has the team and squad depth to last the course and bring that silverware back to Anfield.

However, it seems that Liverpool could be set to lose one key member of their squad.

The local news source, the Liverpool Echo, are reporting that Joe Gomez, our 21-year-old defender, may very well need surgery.

After fracturing his leg in a fixture, against Burnley, it was anticipated that Gomez would be sidelined for six weeks.

However, two months on and Gomez has yet to even return to training let alone first-team action, with fears existing that the bone may not have healed as hoped, thereby necessitating surgery.

If that is the case, then Jurgen Klopp will have to make do without the services of the young defender for the remainder of the season.
