Here at Vital Liverpool, we don’t expect Jurgen Klopp to announce any big-name signings ahead of the January transfer window closing in less than a week.

Okay, there may be a few squad members let go but the nucleus of the squad is strong enough to survive the recent mini-injury crisis.

However, there are snippets of transfer speculation doing the rounds, but rumours that link Liverpool with the acquisition of talent once the season ends.

One such target that has been mentioned in the same sentence as Liverpool, is that of Timo Werner.

The 22-year-old German striker would fit in nicely at Anfield, giving the squad added depth whilst also giving Jurgen Klopp more options up front.

However, according to the news source, Bild, not only do Liverpool have competition for the player but there is a chance Werner might not be leaving RB Leipzig at all.

Our referenced source is pointing out that Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain all harbour ambitions of signing the striker but, in an effort to keep him where he is, RB Leipzig are looking at offering Werner an improved contract to keep him in the Bundesliga.

My view is that this piece of speculation will, as far as Liverpool goes, not amount to anything.
