Starting the Premier League season, with a run of twelve games, has given Liverpool the perfect foundation upon which to build a campaign that will, hopefully, see the club win the Premier League for the first time.

But, more importantly, the unbeaten run has also seen the defence concede just five goals.

However, it appears that Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring some additional defensive talent to the club, in order to maintain the progress made.

On the Liverpool, radar was the Ajax defender, Matthijs de Ligt, a 19-year-old who is regarded as one of the hottest defensive prospects in Europe.

But, according to the news source, Mirror, it looks to be a deal that isn’t going to happen.

It would appear that the defender, rated in the £60 million bracket, is destined to join the wealth of talent at Barcelona.

Personally, I’m disappointed that looks to be the case but, hopefully, once that first Premier League title is in the bag, our stock will rise further and the likes of de Ligt could well be tempted to a move to Anfield.
