As we drift to the inevitable, the closing of the January transfer window, next Thursday evening, it’s becoming more of a case of who Liverpool won’t be signing as opposed to who we will.

Now whether it’s simply a case of our club being linked with every Tom, Dick and Harry because of our lofty position, in the Premier League, remains a very debatable subject.

Today (Saturday) we have another perfect illustration of the above.

Lurking in the pages of the Spanish media vehicle, Marca, is the inference that Liverpool are set to miss out on acquiring the services of a Brazilian right-back, with the defender in question being Emerson.

According to our referenced source, Liverpool were rivaling Arsenal for the services of the 20-year-old.

However, it appears, if our quoted source is correct, both of us are set to be pipped to his signature by the Spanish side Real Betis.

I’m not quite sure what to make of this one but I’ll err towards my sentiments in the second paragraph of this article.
