Reports this week suggest Liverpool have entered the race for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes and will battle a number of clubs for his signature.
According to Portuguese news outlet JN, Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool are exploring the idea of bringing in Nunes to their engine room to improve the squad’s overall versatility.
Nevertheless, Nunes signed a new deal at Sporting a few weeks ago, which makes a deal for the midfielder an odd one, to say the least.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are keeping tabs on Matheus Nunes, according to reports.

The report also suggests that Chelsea and Manchester City are monitoring the midfielder and that the London club are in pole position for his signature.
Nunes would slot into the midfield gap that Liverpool desperately need to fill so it wouldn’t be surprising if the Liverpool hierarchy were assessing their chances at bringing him in at Anfield.
The race for Nunes is definitely on, but it looks more likely to be a 2023 summer transfer story rather than this one, it will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
