A selection of the best facts, figures and statistics ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League fixture at Crystal Palace…
As usual before a game involving Liverpool FC, we’ve been busy trawling the records to bring you all the facts, figures and statistics you need to know about the upcoming fixture.
Saturday evening sees the Reds head to the capital to play a Crystal Palace side who’ve often proved to be their bogey team in recent years.
Here’s what caught our eye:
? Liverpool and Crystal Palace have contested 47 competitive matches during their respective histories with the Merseysiders leading overall courtesy of 23 wins to 13 defeats and 11 draws (source: 11v11.com).
? The Eagles have won three of the last four meetings in the Premier League, although Liverpool did win the most recent encounter at Selhurst Park in March.
? Palace striker Christian Benteke scored the winner for the Reds on that day and he has a great record against his former side; scoring four goals in five appearances whilst at Aston Villa.
? The Londoners usually find the net when these two meet having scored in each of their last nine league games against Liverpool.
? They will fancy their chances of extending that record this weekend given the Merseysiders are without a clean sheet in their last 10 away Premier League games. Only once before have they endured a longer run without a shut-out on the road (1998 -12 games).
? That said, Liverpool are on a ten-match unbeaten run in all competitions this term and have won seven of their last eight games.
? Palace have also struggled for shut-outs recently, failing to keep a clean sheet in their last 14 Premier League games dating back to an encounter with Everton on April 13.
? At home they’re still proving a tough nut to crack; conceding just once in each of their last five at Selhurst Park (W2, D1, L2).
? Reds captain Jordan Henderson is available after suspension and the midfielder has played more passes (765) and run further (106.5km) than any other Premier League player so far in 2016/17.
? Liverpool winger Sadio Mane scored in three of his four Premier League games against Crystal Palace when playing for Southampton.
