Liverpool midfielder Thiago is set to be out for six weeks after suffering an injury in the opening Premier League game of the season against Fulham.

The Spain international suffered a suspected hamstring injury 50 minutes into the game and was subsequently taken off the pitch for further inspection.

Now, The Athletic is reporting that the midfielder is set to be out for six weeks; a huge blow to Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes.

The injury will keep Thiago out of upcoming games against, Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Everton and Wolves.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hinted that the club may make a move for another midfielder but insisted they won’t be rushed into making any decision.

Thiago has been a key cog in Liverpool’s setup since joining the team, however, he has suffered multiple injury setbacks which have ultimately plagued his time on Merseyside.

Fans of the Reds will be concerned by Jurgen Klopp’s side’s growing injury list and will be hoping a move for a midfielder can get completed before the transfer window shuts.
