With the summer transfer window fast approaching and Liverpool set to invest in the squad to further their attempts of catching up again with rivals Manchester City – there have been plenty of transfer rumours floating around.

After news broke that the club would sign at least one new attacker in the summer, as well as having to reinvest in areas of the squad where players are likely to depart, we will no doubt get to see some new faces arrive at Anfield before the next campaign. With that comes the task of having to replace departing players and that doesn’t always start off easy.

Will Klopp improve the Liverpool squad this summer?

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has been linked with a move away from the club for some time now and has been the target of interest from clubs such as Barcelona, Inter Milan, and PSG – this has led to the club having to turn their interest to replace him and they may have just found their man.

Reports from Broadcast Reporter and Transfer Insider Dean Jones has suggested that the Reds will be looking towards new midfield options next season and are beginning to contemplate a move for Sheffield United’s Norwegian midfielder Sander Berge, as cited by AnfieldWatch on Twitter…

I think Berge would be a fantastic replacement for Wijnaldum if the Dutchman were to leave. The 23-year-old has been at Sheffield for almost two seasons now and has been fantastic for the Blades during that time.

This season has seen a huge dip from the club and Berge has been sidelined since December with an injury that required surgery but he is due back at the end of the month. With Sheffield struggling in the league and the likelihood of them getting relegated growing more by the day – Berge could become available at a fantastic price, with Sheffield paying £22 million for him just over a year ago.

What do you think Liverpool fans, would Berge be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
