After 17 years, that’s just the way it’s going to be.”
Former Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Friedel has announced his intention to retire at the end of the season. The 43-year-old American, currently on the books of Tottenham Hotspur, made 31 appearances for the Reds between 1997 and 2000.

Liverpool U21s ended their campaign on Monday evening with a dramatic 4-4 draw against Norwich City. Jordan Williams, Ryan Kent and Cameron Brannagan had given Michael Beale’s side a commanding 3-0 lead at half-time but the spirited visitors fought back to level before Sheyi Ojo converted a late penalty. Just as the youngsters looked set for victory, Josh Murphy completed his hat-trick for the Canaries, who were also down to 10-men by this stage.
Liverpool Ladies’ difficult start to the new Women’s Super League continued on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 defeat to Notts County at Meadow Lane. The season now takes a break for the World Cup in Canada, and the reigning league champions will resume their season on July 12 against Arsenal.
