Speaking exclusively to Tribal Football, ex-Valencia sporting director and club legend Fernando Gomez thinks winger Ferran Torres would fit perfectly into Jurgen Klopp’s system at Liverpool – going on to state that our manager’s style ‘suits him‘.
Torres, who has started 20 La Liga matches for the Spanish side this season, scoring four goals and assisting four others in the process, is widely recognised as a potential star for the future – and now Gomez thinks the Reds should snap him up, possibly as a replacement for wide attacker Xherdan Shaqiri.
Should Liverpool sign Torres?
Described in a past Forbes piece as ‘the new Marco Asensio‘, Torres has received praise from plenty of figureheads across the continent, with Valencia academy director Jose Gimenez waxing lyrical over the youngster’s abilities and going on to claim that he is ‘unpredictable‘ and the ‘complete package‘.
As Shaqiri nears a potential Anfield exit this summer, with the player’s brother and agent recently claiming that the Switzerland international has an array of suitors, Valencia legend Gomez, at least judging by his comments, could think that Torres would be Liverpool’s ideal successor for the player.
Indeed, in the exclusive interview with Tribal Football, Gomez claimed that ‘Klopp’s system fits him’ – significant praise coming from a man who oversaw the sales of David Silva and Juan Mata.
When normal service is resumed and the transfer market corrects itself, it might not be a bad idea to consider swooping for the 20-year-old.
