The search for Liverpool to find a midfielder looks set to go into the final hours of deadline day and a new name emerged as a target late last night.

The Reds have launched a £20million bid for Aston Villa ace Douglas Luiz, with Klopp keen to bring in a midfielder with Premier League experience, according to the Express.

Speculation has been rife that Liverpool will make a late move for a midfielder, due to the club’s ongoing injury crisis with several players out on the sidelines.

The initial news of Liverpool’s interest in Douglas Luiz was broken by Brazilian reporter Matheus Leal.

He claims that Aston Villa will now play hardball with Liverpool over a price for their midfielder, however, the Brazil international is keen to force through a move.

Nevertheless, Villa may want to cash in on Luiz, who is in the final year of his contract, but they will likely still try to get a substantial fee from Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Luiz joined Villa from Manchester City in 2019 and has made over 100 appearances for the club but has lost his place in the team’s first XI this campaign.
