The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for a central defender this January transfer window after injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez have left the pair sidelined until the end of the season.

Recent reports such as a €60m move for Dayot Upamecano, £45m move for Milan Skriniar, £27m move for Perr Schuurs, as well as a €6 m move for Olympiacos defender Ruben Semedo have all been mentioned, but Real Madrid defender Eder Militao is the most recent name to be dropped with a reported loan move for the Brazilian on the cards.

Militao moved to Real back in 2019 for £45 million, after an impressive season with FC Porto, who the Reds faced during their Champions League winning campaign that season.

This season the Brazilian has only made three appearances for Los Blancos having fallen out of favour for the in-form Nacho under Zinedine Zidane but has the stats to show he has impressed during those three games. In the Champions League this season he has recorded 7 tackles, 2 interceptions, as well as winning 2 aerial duels in his game against Shakhtar Donetsk which sadly saw Real lose 3-2 despite his display.

I think Militao could be a fantastic option as a quick fix for the Reds, the possibility of a loan deal for the second half of the season could prove lucrative for Jurgen Klopp as him and the club won’t have to shell out large amounts of cash for a quick fix defender – and if things were to go well and Militao was to impress for the Reds, then a permanent transfer in the summer could be on the cards for a better fairer negotiated price.

No matter the case, it is likely that the club will need to make a defensive signing in the winter but only time will tell who that may be.

What do you think Liverpool fans, do you think Eder Militao would be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
