Liverpool v Derby County: Starting XI Prediction

|

Liverpool host Derby County in the third round of the Carabao Cup as they look to win the competition for the second year on the bounce. Here is how we think Klopp will lineup his side:

Goalkeeper- Kelleher

Caoimhin Kelleher has certainly been patient for this opportunity to come up. The Irishman will without a doubt make his first appearance of the season hoping to follow on from his heroics in the competition last season.

Defence- Ramsay, Phillips, Gomez, Tsimikas

The changes continue in the back four, with Calvin Ramsay expected to start his first game for Liverpool. Kostas Tsimikas will most likely come in for Andy Robertson at left back, but it also wouldn’t be a surprise to see someone like Luke Chambers be given a chance at full-back. Third and fourth choice centre-backs, Joe Gomez and Nat Phillips will come in to give Virgil Van Dijk and Ibou Konate a rest.

Midfield- Bajcetic, Jones, Oxlade-Chamberlain

Stefan Bajcetic will also most likely start his first game for Liverpool following his substitute appearance against Napoli last week. The youngster will be joined by Curtis Jones and Oxlade-Chamberlain in the middle of the park with both still trying to get minutes following their injuries.

Forwards- Carvalho, Firmino, Doak

Fabio Carvalho will definitely start this one after being on the bench in Liverpool’s win over Spurs. Following his snub from Brazil’s World Cup squad, perhaps there’s room to maneuver with Firmino. Finally, 16-year-old Ben Doak would be deserving of his chance in the first team after his incredible form for the under 21’s.

Bench- Adrian, Konate, Chambers, Milner, Henderson, Cain, Elliott, Nunez, Clark.
