Liverpool v Napoli: Starting XI Prediction

|

Liverpool host Napoli in Matchday six of the Champions League group stages on Tuesday night, with many questioning whether Jurgen Klopp will go with a full-strength side or a more weakened lineup. Here is how we think Liverpool will lineup at Anfield:

Goalkeeper- Alisson Becker

Liverpool will certainly not be wanting to lose two home games on the bounce, so will therefore be aiming to keep a clean sheet against Serie A’s top of the table outfit. Therefore, the best keeper in the world, Alisson Becker, will continue in goal looking to provide his side with a solid foundation to build upon.

Defence- Milner, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas

Both James Milner and Kostas Tsimikas will come in at full-back to give Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson a rest ahead of Sunday’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur. Frenchman, Ibrahima Konate, will return to the starting lineup but only Joe Gomez will be able to get a rest meaning Virgil Van Dijk will start at the heart of the defence again.

Midfield- Henderson, Bajcetic, Jones

Fabinho and Harvey Elliott both looked like they were in desperate need of a rest in the defeat to Leeds United just two days ago, therefore both will drop down to the bench along with Thiago Alcantara. Jordan Henderson will come back into the starting XI alongside youngster, Curtis Jones. I also would love to see Stefan Bajcetic play in that holding midfield role in between Henderson and Jones, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Klopp stuck with a Fabinho or Thiago instead.

Forwards- Salah, Nunez, Carvalho

Both Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez will most likely be forced to go again against Napoli due to the injuries of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz. The pair will be joined by Fabio Carvalho, who will come in to give Roberto Firmino a rest and look to neatly link up the three forwards.

Bench- Kelleher, Adrian, Trent, Ramsay, Gomez, Phillips, Robertson, Fabinho, Thiago, Elliott, Firmino, Clark.
