Who has won the Vital Liverpool Player of the Month award for Premier League performances during December 2017?…
Liverpool enjoyed a second consecutive unbeaten month in December as their eight matches ended in five victories and three draws.
In addition to securing progress to the Champions League knockout stages via an emphatic 7-0 win against Spartak Moscow, the results helped the Reds to consolidate their top four spot in the Premier League.
Their seven league outings yielded 20 goals for and only six against, including three clean sheets.
The hectic festive period, which, coupled with a 2-1 win at Burnley on New Year’s Day, concluded with four matches in 11 days, unsurprisingly featured plenty of squad rotation from Kop boss Jürgen Klopp.
The German made five or more changes to his starting X1 in almost every match during December, making the run of results even more impressive and allowing the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andrew Robertson opportunities to prove their worth.
As usual however, the individual Man of the Match polls were predominantly dominated by attacking players with key trio Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho unsurprisingly featuring heavily.
The Vital Liverpool Player of the Month is determined by the accumulative votes cast in the individual MOTM awards for each Premier League fixture. In the event of no clear winner, the editor has the deciding vote.
