Liverpool is back in action, in the Premier League, after a 17-day hiatus when they welcome Brighton Hove Albion to Anfield. The match is set to kick off at 3.00 pm on Saturday, 1st October 2022.

Liverpool

Liverpool has lost just one of their last 10 Premier League meetings against Brighton Hove Albion. In that period, they have won 7, drawn 2 and lost just one game which was back in February 2021.

The international break seems to have been a blessing in disguise for Liverpool. Right-back Trent Alexander Arnold and start attacker Mohamed Salah both return relatively rested. Virgil van Dijk, Darwin Nunez, and Mo Salah all returned with a goal in the bag. While prolific midfielder Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip were fully rested.

On the injury front, Captain Jordan Henderson, Andrew Robertson and Ibrahnia Konate have all returned from injury. However, only time will tell if they are in contention to start the game against Brighton.

Brighton & Hove Albion F.C.

Brighton has started off very well this season. However, now that Graham Potter has left and gone to Chelsea, they will have to work hard to keep performances at the same level. They enter this game sitting pretty in the top 4 of the Premier League Table. A win in this game ensures that they stay in the Champions League fight for at least another week.

Brighton goes into this game above Liverpool in the table. This is only the second time they have faced Liverpool after being ahead of them regarding league standings. Given Liverpool’s shaky start to the season, all this does is add even more pressure.

The Seagulls go into this game high on confidence. They have lost just one of their last 11 Premier League games. However, an away game at Anfield is a totally different test and they will have to be at their best if they want to continue their impressive record.

Liverpool’s Expected Starting XI: Alisson; Trent, Matip, Virgil, Tsimikas; Thiago, Fabinho, Elliott; Diaz, Nunez, Salah
