According to a recent report from Italian newspaper Libero via Paisley Gates, Liverpool want to sign Lille striker Victor Osimhen and have even ‘offered‘ a €7 million-per-year (€145,000-per-week) deal to entice the player with an Anfield switch.

Osimhen, who has racked up an impressive 18 goals in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side this season, is currently at the centre of heavy interest from Liverpool according to Libero – with the outlet claiming we have tabled an £131, 000-per-week contract to his representatives and the player by proxy.

Despite the Nigerian seemingly hitting all the red flags when it comes to Fenway Sports Group’s transfer policy, with the player currently rated at around €60 million (£54.1 million), it’s claimed that Jurgen Klopp and co are trying to ‘snatch‘ the player away from Napoli.

The youngster’s ability is without question, at least going by his stats, with Osimhen looking like a more prolific alternative to striker Roberto Firmino.

Compared to our number 9, Osimhen averages more shots on goal per 90 according to WhoScored whilst winning more than four-times as many aerial duels upfront.

Standing at an imposing 6ft 1, Lille coach Christophe Galtier has certainly waxed lyrical over his attacker in the past – lauding him as a ‘powerful‘ and ‘skilful’ player who is a lot like Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Towering over Firmino as a presence going forward who could thrive under Klopp, links to the player have certainly been accelerated over the last few days, but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool do in fact opt to sign the 21-year-old.
