Liverpool would be willing to sell talented defender Joe Gomez this summer but only if a club made a big-money bid for his services.

According to The Atheltic, the Merseyside club hope Gomez will sign a new deal to fend off interest from Premier League clubs like Aston Villa and Tottenham.

Gomez, however, wants more game time if he is to commit to a new deal at Anfield and this is something he wants to be clarifying this summer when making a decision on his future.

The Reds are certainly stocked in the centre-back position, with Joel Matip and Ibrahim Konate being preferred partners for Virgil Van Dijk last season.

Unless the defender forces his way out of the club, it would be silly for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool to let Gomez leave this summer.

The 25-year-old still has his best years ahead of him and has shown glimpses during his time so far at Liverpool of the form he is capable of when utilised correctly in the team.

Liverpool played every game possible during the 2021/2022 campaign and whilst this feat is unlikely to happen again it highlighted the need for a big squad and multiple options in every position moving forward.
