Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez apologises after World Cup exit

|

Liverpool forward, Darwin Nunez, has apologised to the people of Uruguay following their shock exit out of the World Cup yesterday.

Uruguay defeated Ghana 2-0 in the final matchday of the group stages, however La Celeste crashed out of the tournament as South Korea pulled off a shock 2-1 victory over Portugal.

It was goals scored that eventually knocked Uruguay out, no doubt leaving the likes of Darwin Nunez and Luis Suarez wishing they had offered more attacking threat.

The Liverpool striker took to Twitter to offer his apologies, saying: “We didn’t deserve this ending but the dream ended. Sorry to all of the Uruguayan people.”

Although not being able to have a direct goal involvement in the tournament, Nunez still looked like the brightest player for Uruguay along with Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde.

Former Red, Luis Suarez, was also left heartbroken in the dugout following his substitution with 25 minutes to go and will also be thinking that he could’ve afford more to increase his sides chances.

Darwin Nunez will now return to club duties, linking up with his teammates in Liverpool’s warm-weather training camp in Dubai where the Reds will take on Olymique Lyon and A.C Milan in friendlies.

The 23-year-old will definitely be hoping to put this behind him and have a successful end to the season under Jurgen Klopp.
