Liverpool teenage left-back Luke Chambers has left the club. He has joined Kilmarnock on a 6-month-loan until the end of this season. The 18-year-old left-back will spend the rest of the 2022-23 season with the Scottish Premiership side under the leadership of former West Brom midfielder Derek McInnes.

Chambers signed his first professional football contract with the Reds back in 2021 and was part of the England national under-19 football side that won the 2022 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.

Chambers had joined Liverpool’s Academy at the age of age six. He then went on to appear for Jurgen Klopp’s senior side only in friendlies but never in a senior game. Chambers has not yet made a senior appearance for Liverpool but has, on two occasions, made the first-team squad for matchdays this campaign.

He made an appearance in the friendly warm-up games, in both the preseason and the winter warm training camp in Dubai against Italian giants AC Milan, rivals Manchester United, Crystal Palace, and Lyon.

A transfer deal between Liverpool and Kilmarnock was agreed upon via their new head of recruitment Russ Richardson. Richardson left a scouting role that he had with Liverpool last September.

Kilmarnock currently sits at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table with just 20 points from 23 games played. The hope is that the addition of Chambers gives them an injection and can help them fend off possible relegation.
