Liverpool face a great period of reflection and preparation ahead of their Premier League title clash against Manchester United on the 17th January at Anfield, with them gaining 9 days to recuperate between their FA Cup game against Aston Villa on Friday and the game against the Red Devils.

Jurgen Klopp recently revealed that the squad will be playing plenty of 11v11 situations in training to remain sharp and keep a good rhythm going with the lack of game time before the crunch game.

With the squad attempting to stay one ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side with as big an advantage as possible, the Manchester club has recently received some positive news of their own, that could have a big impact on the outlook of our upcoming fixture.

Can Liverpool beat Manchester United?

Yes

No

No

Last night it was revealed by Solskjaer in his post-match interview after their game against Watford on Sunday night that he is hopeful of Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw, and Paul Pogba all returning in time for the game at Anfield – with the trio no doubt an improvement in selection and will give United a big boost ahead of the game.

A defensive boost of Shaw and Lindelof back into the starting XI will prove a huge asset for United and will give them strength in numbers at the back, as well as having Frenchman Pogba return in midfield. On his day Pogba can be a world-beater but he often dips in and out of form more often than not, so hopefully, a return against us will be too soon for the 27-year-old to find his feet.

I don’t think this should be too much of a worry for Klopp and his team, they know their ability and what they are capable of and will no doubt not be after anything less than three points against United next week.
