Liverpool will look to retain the Carabao Cup as they host Derby County on Wednesday, looking to repeat the success they had in the competition last year.

The Reds defeated Chelsea in a penalty shootout in last year’s final to lift their ninth league cup in the club’s history, before going on to lift the FA Cup at the end of the same season.

Tomorrow night sees the Reds back in action in the Carabao Cup for the first time since the final and will be expected to defeat Derby County pretty comfortably.

Liverpool go in to the game on the back of two impressive victories against Napoli and Tottenham Hotspur, leaving them sitting in 8th place in the Premier League.

The Reds’ opponents, Derby County, have had a mixed start to the season leaving them in 7th place in the EFL League One with just one defeat in their last five league games.

However, Liverpool have never lost a competitive game against the Rams, with the sides facing off three times and the Reds coming out victorious on every occasion.

The last meeting between the two sides was in this competition back in September 2016, with Jurgen Klopp’s men coming out 3-0 winners, with Divock Origi, Philippe Coutinho and Ragnar Klavan getting on the scoresheet in the away win.

Liverpool will be hoping for more of the same as they look to add more trophies to the cabinet under the leadership of Jurgen Klopp.
