After testing positive for COVID-19 on Friday, Mohamed Salah could find himself back in contention for Sunday’s game against Leicester City if he returns a negative test this week.

According to the Egyptian FA, Salah will receive a second test on Thursday and if the result comes back negative then we could see an early return for the Egyptian against the Foxes.

The forward tested positive before Egypt’s game against Togo and has been isolating since – but there is hope that his return to action could be brought forward if the result goes his way on Thursday – meaning he would be able to fly back to Liverpool in time for the return to Premier League action.

A member of the Egyptian Ministry of Health, Hossam Hosny, believes that Salah will return a negative test on Thursday due to him yet to show any symptoms – but would it really be wise for this process to be rushed to get the star back in action?

I think at a time like these with the current measures and precautions it would be silly to try and rush the process to get Salah back on the pitch as soon as possible. It is best for him to recover and recuperate properly in time for his scheduled return on the 28th of November – meaning he would miss three games for the club.

Instead, it feels to me as though the Egyptian FA are trying to fast track his return to football as a way of preserving good relations with Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, with the German manager likely to be frustrated over the situation which has left him with another first-team star on the sidelines.

What do you think Liverpool fans, will Mo Salah return for the game against Leicester? Let us know in the comments section below…
