Mohamed Salah has been named on the final three-man shortlist for the 2022 African Men’s Player of the Year, alongside Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy and former teammate Sadio Mane.

The award will be handed out today; Salah has previously won the award twice in 2017 and 2018, with Mane winning the award in 2019.

The Egyptian international managed to rack up 51 appearances for Liverpool last season, scoring 31 goals and assisting 16 times along the way.

The award wouldn’t be the only one Salah has won for his efforts last season, with Salah already having a cabinet full of individual awards from the 2021/2022 campaign.

The Egyptian was awarded the Professional Footballers’ Association Men’s Players’ Player of the Year and Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year, in addition to Premier League’s Golden Boot and Playmaker of the Season.

Nevertheless, former Red Sadio Mane is the favourite for the award, after winning the African Cup of Nations for Senegal alongside an impressive campaign for Liverpool.
