Despite the negatives that have dominated the club’s season so far there have been some real positives that we Liverpool fans can take to try and make the best out of a bad situation.

Players such as Diogo Jota have hit the ground running during his first season at the club after joining in the summer and despite his stint on the sidelines, nothing can be taken away from his impressive form for the Reds. Not only him, but youngsters such as Nat Phillips have been very impressive considering the likelihood he was going to leave in the summer.

According to FootballInsider, Liverpool turned down an offer from Championship club Nottingham Forest in January when the club came in to try and sign Phillips to which the Reds turned down and rightly so, given how impressive he has been and his performance against RB Leipzig on Wednesday was a perfect example of that…

For me, Phillips has been one of our best players this season simply due to the circumstances in which he was thrown into. To have Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip all out until the end of the season, and with the injuries all occurring so early in the season – Phillips was thrown in the deep end.

Is Nat Phillips good enough to start?

No

He and Rhys Williams have really stepped up this season and Phillips in particular for me has been massively impressive. His time on loan clearly helped in his development and the way in which he has progressed and grown in this Liverpool side to become a real talent that has got people talking.

What do you think Liverpool fans, have you been impressed by Nat Phillips this season? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
