Following Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Brighton on Saturday, Jurgen Klopp took to his post-match interviewing duties with broadcasters BT Sport, who broadcasted the 12:30 pm game.

Much to mine and most likely many other’s enjoyment, Klopp and interviewer Des Kelly produced this incredible post-match interview that lasted almost 9 minutes – with the pair going into a great discussion over Klopp’s call for the five substitutes rule as well as the current match scheduling issues…

I was amazed by the interview as a whole and it was great to see a genuine discussion that didn’t involve anyone ranting or raving about the current frustrations that Klopp and many other Premier League managers have, rather they held a well-established talk with Kelly defending the stance of BT and other broadcasters in England.

Do you agree with Jurgen Klopp?

Yes

Yes

No

No

I understand the argument from both sides – Klopp is clearly carrying simply about the welfare of his squad, as he says about the five substitute rule is a great help not tactically but in terms of fitness, with him using the example of being able to take off Andy Robertson in place of Kostas Tsimikas to give the Scotsman some relief after playing so many games this season.

It is not often we get to see such honesty and discussion in post-match interviews and neither party really has to stand there for as long as they did and actually have a proper discussion over the matters that are concerning football at the moment and the talk could create great help with discussions at the top.

In an ideal world, these problems and concerns can be solved in an instant but sadly, these issues can’t be sorted overnight and it could take some time if we are to see any change in the broadcast scheduling and substitute rules.
