According to information from outlets Goal and SPOX, Liverpool are reportedly in the hunt to sign the highly sought-after Ferran Torres from Valencia – but does that mean we should potentially entertain his lofty price tag?

Torres, who has caught the eye of big clubs throughout Europe with his influential displays this season at such a young age, could be on Liverpool’s radar as they search for potential Mohamed Salah replacements if he opts to leave Anfield in the summer.

The Egyptian, who has mesmerised supporters everywhere since joining from AS Roma back in 2017, could be on the way out to Real Madrid or Barcelona along with Sadio Mane according to this recent report from the Metro.

As a result, this piece of news has cropped up over the potential pursuit of Torres – who may very well pose as a Salah replacement if the 27-year-old exits Merseyside for good.

However, judging by the pair’s stats on paper, it seems the duo couldn’t be further apart – with Torres scoring just four goals and assisting four others in 20 La Liga starts, as per WhoScored.

By comparison, Salah has had another superb season even by his lofty standards, scoring 16 goals and assisting six others in the league alone – perhaps highlighting the fact that we need to search for an attacker with much more proven numbers over Torres.

Indeed, regardless of the youngster’s sky-high promise, if Salah were to leave Liverpool, it would take a big player to fill his big shoes.

The Reds would be taking a huge risk with Torres, especially given his apparent £92 million release clause.
