According to a report from Football Insider, Leicester City have been eyeing a swoop to sign Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana once his contract expires at the end of this season – with the Englishman looking set to become a free agent.

Ex-Reds boss Brendan Rodgers apparently wants to link up again with the Englishman at the King Power Stadium as Leicester look to strengthen their squad ahead of next campaign.

Lallana recently took the option to extend his current deal to serve the remainder of the 2019/2020 campaign, with his previous contract due to expire this month.

A global pandemic resulted in the Premier League season’s postponement and many out-of-contract players were in danger of serving their time before the campaign properly concluded – but now Lallana has put fears of that nature to bed with an extended deal.

However, while he might have committed his future to the Reds until the end of this season, Lallana still looks set to depart after that – with Leicester firmly on the prowl to snap him up according to Football Insider.

The £110.000-per-week midfielder is reportedly at the centre of Rodgers’ interest having made 178 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 22 goals and assisting 22 others in that time.

Described as ‘brilliant‘ by manager Jurgen Klopp, Lallana has still only managed three league starts this season, making four times as many appearances off the bench according to WhoScored.

The 32-year-old, at least debatably, would be better served spending the remainder of his career away from Anfield where he is more likely to feature regularly.
