Premier League postpone Liverpool’s weekend fixture after Queen Elizabeth II death

After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the Premier League has announced that all this weekend’s fixtures have been postponed.

Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday evening that the Monarch Queen Elizabeth had died “peacefully” at Balmoral on Thursday afternoon. [BBC].

The Reds were due to face Wolves at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, however, the passing of the Monarch has brought all play to a halt.

Nine other Premier League fixtures along the weekend and Monday have also been postponed.

The EFL has followed suit by postponing all their games over the weekend too, this pattern is likely to trend around all sporting events this weekend.

Liverpool were set to face Wolves after a torrid UEFA Champions League outing away to Napoli, which saw Jurgen Klopp’s side humiliated in a 4-1 defeat.

Now, with the weekend’s rest, the squad can regroup and try to figure out what exactly is going wrong for them this season; it’s not been pretty viewing for fans.

It seems the squad are suffering from a severe hangover from last season; where the team battled for a quadruple and played every single game they possibly could.

With the FIFA World Cup looming, the fixture schedule is about to heat up, Liverpool desperately needs to start getting things right, or they could throw away their whole season early doors.
