In light of the club’s recent injury woes in defence, it is likely that the club will have to take a dip into the market come January in search of another central defender.

A name that has popped up on the list of players linked with the club is Milan Skriniar of Inter Milan – with the £45 million rated defender looking like a wise option for the Reds this winter – here’s why…

At just 25-years-old, the defender stands at 6ft2 and is yet to hit his footballing peak – so far this season Skriniar has only played three games for Inter due to testing positive.

Last season in Serie A, however, the Slovakian averaged 1.2 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 2.6 clearances, and 1.2 aerial duels won per game. He also averaged a 92.1% pass success rate during this time, highlighting his ability on the ball – something that would see him fit well into Jurgen Klopp’s side.

I think Skriniar would be a fantastic fit within the Reds side – his evident ability with the ball at his feet suits very well into the style of play for Liverpool, with all their defenders possessing a great passing ability due to the counter-attacking style of play that Klopp’s side possesses.

His stats in the Champions League last season were also impressive, with the defender averaging 2.5 tackles, 1.8 interceptions, 2.3 clearances, and 1.2 blocks. Again, his passing stats were impressive with an 85.6% pass success rate.

Overall, the defender would be a great option for the club, his current market value isn’t the sort of price that is unattainable, he is still young at just 25, and his statistics suggest he would slot well alongside the other defenders at the club – all of which make for a great singing in my eyes.
