The January transfer window is fast approaching, with the Reds likely to be in the market for possibly one or two defensive options after the season-long injuries to Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk.

Despite the obvious need for reinforcements in defence, that hasn’t stopped talent from elsewhere on the pitch to be linked with Jurgen Klopp’s side before the winter window opens, with this young talent being linked with the club…

Liverpool have been linked with a move for 17-year-old Icelandic wonderkid Isak Bergmann Johannesson, who is currently rated at £10 million, with Juventus and Manchester United also linked with the youngster.

Johannesson made his debut for the Icelandic National Team last week, coming on in the 88th minute during their 4-0 loss to England in Nations League.

Currently deployed as a midfielder, Johannesson can also play as a winger – with the youngster scoring 3 goals with 9 assists for Swedish club IFK Norrköping in the Allsvenskan.

I think from what I have seen from Johannesson definitely shows him to be a promising talent – with the versatility to play in both midfield as well as a winger is a great asset for a youngster and something that will give him greater opportunities and interest from some of the worlds biggest clubs.

Personally, I can’t see this being a transfer that the club will go for his January – I don’t doubt the quality that Johannesson possesses but I just can’t see the Reds trying to invest too much in younger players such as himself right now due to already having young individuals such as Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott already occupying the two positions in which the Icelandic teenager can play and right now, I’d say the pair are better than him ability wise.
