Liverpool will be looking to improve on their recent poor goalscoring against a lower division side.

Rafa Benitez has hinted that he layed into the team after the recent woeful defeat at the hands of Fulham and insists this game is as important as any.

Upfront will see Dougie Freedman partner Clinton Morrison. Dowie does have some injury worries with Jon Macken, Danny Butterfield and Jobi McAnuff all sidelined.

Always a lively customer against Liverpool and will no doubt be dying to score against the European Champions.

Liverpool Team News:

Liverpool are expecting to put influential captain Gerrard in the middle of the park – probably at the expense of Sissoko.

It is expected Jamie Carragher will be rested for the game with youngster David Craven almost certain to start.

Other Liverpool youngster Zak Whitbread (defender) and Danny Potter (midfielder) are most likely to see some action at some point during the game.

Upfront could well see Crouch and Cisse as Benitez has indictated he is using the game to work out why the strikeforce arent scoring enough goals.

Player to watch: Steven Gerrard

He will be chomping at the bit to get back in action. Will no doubt rally the boys to get a much improved, goalscoring, performance out of them.
