Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz has come out and said that he is “ready” to take a big step in his career.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with the Germany international throughout the campaign, but there is no indication that we are the front-runners to secures his services in the summer.
The likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham have all been connected with a move for Havertz, which could become a fierce battle for his signature when the 2019/20 campaign ends, with a £90m price tag on his head.
The Reds have become a top attraction for players due to their recent success after winning the Champions League in Madrid last season and are now on the verge of capturing our first title in 30 years.
Havertz has hinted that he could be about to leave Leverkusen in search of a new challenge.
Would you like to see Kai Havertz at Liverpool?
“I am ready to take a big step and I like challenges,” Havertz has told BILD. “For me, this also includes (playing) abroad.”
Germany coach Joachim Low has previously stated his admiration for the 20-year-old’s maturity and professionalism, by describing that he comes across as a “veteran“.
The praise for Havertz continued, as former Leverkusen manager Heiko Herrlich said that he has not witnessed a player with as much talent as Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos.
That is some compliment. Kroos has gone to achieve great success with the Spanish giants. If Havertz can have a similar career than his German counterpart, he will certainly be remembered as one of the world’s best players.
That being said, this will be a great boost for Liverpool. With our current position in the Premier League, it could be a factor in bringing the attacking midfielder to Merseyside.
