Report: Liverpool sustain blow ahead of Community Shield game against Arsenal

|

Liverpool have suffered a setback as the Reds’ first game of the 2020/21 campaign rapidly approaches.

What’s the latest?

It may only seem like yesterday since Liverpool lifted their first league title in 30 years last month, but time flys fast as the Reds are set to take on Arsenal in the season-opening Community Shield clash at Wembley on Saturday 29th August, which is in exactly two weeks.

Today is the day that the players returned from their two-week break to start their preparations for the 2020/21 campaign, which will be new territory having to defend their crown for the first time in the modern era.

Initial preparations in their diary had them flying to the region of Evian in France for a warm-weather training camp, but those plans have been disrupted.

Due to the 14-day quarantine rules imposed by the UK government, this means that Liverpool have had to shelve their plans and make alternate arrangements to get themselves ready for their trip to Wembley at the end of the month.

The upcoming campaign is a huge one for Jurgen Klopp and his team. The last thing that he would have wanted would have been travel disruptions and delays in his pre-season training measures.

Instead, they have decided to fly to Austria where such travel restrictions are not in place at this time.

Reds are on a mission

With this in mind, this should not bear too much of a hindrance on the German tactician and his title-winning side, as they embark on a mission to hold onto their Premier League trophy.
