Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has been identified as a top transfer target by Real Madrid, according to the Mirror.

The Senegal international has been a superstar since his arrival from Southampton for £34million in 2016 and helped the Reds to their sixth European crown after we beat Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid.

Mane was also the joint winner of the Premier League Golden Boot last season, along with the African duo of Mohamed Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with 22 goals.

With 14 goals already to his name in the league this season, this has encouraged Galacticos manager Zinedine Zidane to place him at the top of his summer wish list.

The Mirror claim that the 13-time European champions are confident of capturing the £100,000-a-week man with a fee in the region of £130m-£140m.

Would you sell Sadio Mane for £130m?

This would smash Madrid’s club-record transfer fee, with Gareth Bale being the most they’ve ever spent on a player at €100.8m (£91.2m).

If the Mirror’s report is true, it’s very optimistic of Zidane to believe that waving cash in front of Mane’s face will be enough to convince him to move to the Spanish capital.

Maybe he is forgetting what sort of character Mane is. He has been described as the most humble footballer of all-time by previously stating that he is not interested in buying expensive items to become happy.

The Senegalese forward has also stated that he would love to stay at Liverpool for the rest of his career, and it was only last October that he said this to TV2.

I would be shocked if Mane went to Real Madrid. The player is at a club that is made for him and one that he has previously expressed his love for. After winning the Champions League and could be about to add the Premier League to that collection, there is no need for him to move anywhere.
