Report: Reliable journalist says that £51m star is “desperate” for Liverpool move

|

Liverpool fans continue to be kept in the dark about Timo Werner and whether he’s coming or not. Well, now there has been a significant breakthrough.

Speaking on The Athletic’s Red Agenda podcast [03/03/20 – 51:35], Simon Hughes provided the latest update on the Germany international’s situation, who has been linked with a move to Anfield for many months.

“He really wants to move to Liverpool”, he said. “It looks like the next few weeks might see some movement. They’re going to be trying to do things a little quieter. He’s desperate to play for Liverpool.”

Would you like to see Timo Werner at Liverpool?

Yes

Yes

No

No

When it comes to desperation, Werner will have some competition from the supporters themselves, who have been equally as desperate to see him make the move to Merseyside.

He has been in scintillating form this season in the Bundesliga, with 21 goals in 24 appearances. Only Robert Lewandowski for Bayern Munich has scored more this season, as per BBC Sport. The player himself spoke openly and highly of Jurgen Klopp’s side, describing them as the “best team in the world” and was in awe of the links with him and the Reds, as per Viasport.

He also added that his style of play would fit perfectly into the former Borussia Dortmund boss’ system at Liverpool (via Sky Germany, cited by GiveMeSport), which sounds like a man who is urging the Reds to get the deal done.

With everything that has happened in the past few weeks regarding Werner’s behaviour and the links between the two parties growing stronger, it all makes perfect sense.

Is it just me, or does it seem like it now sounds like a matter of “when”, not “if” Werner signs for Liverpool. Although with his release clause of £51m set to expire in April, they’ll have to get this deal sorted sooner rather than later.
