Last night saw Liverpool lose their 68-game unbeaten run at Anfield after a 1-0 loss to Burnley, leaving Liverpool still in fourth spot and 6 points off of league leaders Manchester United.

It was a frustrating game to watch with Liverpool seriously lacking confidence in front of goal with Liverpool’s front line now failing to score for five Premier League games in a row and the club’s form leading to a worrying prospect on our final finish in the table at the end of the season.

When deciding over which player to choose for my player analysis the overriding feeling was that no one really impressed, with our whole team just not delivering to the standards that one, they can, and two, they should.

In the end, I simply went to WhoScored.com and chose the Liverpool player with the highest match rating as no one really stood out for me during the game – but when looking at the stats, there was actually one player who, on paper, was impressive for the club last night despite failing to score or help the team to a win.

Will Liverpool miss out on this season's Premier League title?

No

No

Sadio Mané seemed to be the best of a bad bunch now and in fact, even performed better than much of the Burnley squad too according to the website, with him managing a 7.67/10 match rating.

His performance was actually one of his best for some time, with him managing 3 shots, 9 key passes, 4 successful dribbles, and was only dispossessed 1 time throughout the whole game.

As I said, on paper it looked like a fine display but despite all of his efforts the Reds still ended the game without a goal for the fifth time in a row and his attacking efforts also failed to help any of the other frontline such as Divock Origi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who started alongside him, nor Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, or Takumi Minamino who came on during the second half.

The result sets Liverpool up for two tough games ahead of them with trips to Manchester United in the FA Cup and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
