The Reds often fined themselves linked with some of the footballing world’s top talent – and that is no different this time around with Southampton linked defender Marco Kana admitting that he’d prefer a move to Liverpool in the future.

Anderlecht and Belgium youngster Kana is just 18-years-old but has already drawn comparisons to former Manchester City captain and his current manager Vincent Kompany – a big pair of shoes to fill.

This season in the Jupiler Pro League Kana has averaged 1.8 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, and 1.6 clearances from 5 appearances in the Anderlecht first-team.

Having never seen the youngster play it would be unfair to pass judgment on him and his abilities but to be compared to a player such as Vincent Kompany is a big call and clearly has to have some merit to it.

At just 18 the defender is already featuring regularly for the Anderlecht first-team, with the Belgiums side being known for churning out some of the best talents in Belgium in recent years with players such as Romelu Lukaku, Youri Tielemans, Leander Dendoncker, Dennis Praet, Jeremy Doku, Dodi Lukebakio, and Alexis Saelemaekers to name a few.

Kana is another in a long line of young talent produced by Anderlecht along with his comparative Kompany, another product of the club’s youth setup.

I don’t think he will be a player that the Reds go for anytime soon with plenty more experienced and more suited options available for the cub to target this winter – but I have no doubt that Kana could go on to become a big player in Europe in the future.
