Since joining the club, Jurgen Klopp has taken Liverpool from a club failing to make the top six, to champions of Europe and the Premier League – a big accomplishment given the place the club was in before he joined.

Now, with the Reds attempting to retain their first-ever Premier League title, there seems to be some chatter over the German losing his way slightly, not being used to being the ‘hunted’, as stated by TalkSPORT pundit Perry Groves on the radio show yesterday…

I think what Groves says here is just silly – to suggest that Klopp is losing form at the moment is ridiculous and clearly, the pundit hasn’t actually done much research or has much knowledge surrounding football to say that he is struggling at the top.

Has Jurgen Klopp been Liverpool's best manager this century?

Yes

Yes

No

He states how during his time at Mainz and Dortmund he was the underdog, the ‘hunter’ as Groves likes to put it – and at Mainz he certainly was. He took the club from the second division to the Bundesliga after just three years as player-manager when nobody thought it was possible, but his time at Dortmund was not simply as the hunters.

Klopp took Borussia Dortmund to the pinnacle of German football and managed to win the Bundesliga with them in 2011, making them the team to beat next season ahead of Bayern Munich – and he managed to keep it that way, winning the league and cup double in 2012, proving that even when he is at the top, he still has the capability to succeed – much to Groves’ apparent feelings that he isn’t used to being the ‘hunted’.

I think what Groves says is just ridiculous and he clearly doesn’t understand the argument he is trying to make himself – Klopp has no troubles with the Reds being the top team to beat and I have no doubt we will retain the title come to the end of the season.
