After a blank weekend, football-wise, courtesy of Liverpool’s involvement in the FA Cup being ended at the 3rd round stage, by Wolverhampton Wanderers, Jurgen Klopp’s side resume their Premier League campaign with a home fixture against Leicester City.

At the time of writing Liverpool top the table with 60 points, 4 ahead of our nearest rivals for the title, Manchester City.

However, come the kick-off, on Wednesday evening at Anfield, we’re expecting that gap to have been closed to a single point with Manchester City playing Newcastle United, at St James Park, on Tuesday evening.

But, whilst our expectations are that Pep Guardiola’s side will win, we’re hoping that our old friend, Rafael Benitez, can pull off a shock result, thereby assisting us in our campaign to win that first top-flight title in 29 years.

If our expectations are, as we expect, realised and the gap is cut to just 1 point, the pressure will be on Liverpool to beat Leicester, a side that are quite capable of, on their day, winning anywhere in the Premier League.

But, the longer Liverpool can keep the gap at four points, the more, as the season approaches its conclusion, the pressure will increase on Manchester City.

There is no place for the faint-hearted when it comes to title run-ins as Liverpool have experienced previously, nothing should be taken for granted and complacency is a dangerous enemy.

Here at Vital Liverpool, we’re hoping that Jurgen Klopp can inspire his charges and Leicester City are swept away on one of those atmospheric night games we’ve come to love at Anfield.
