The Reds have been plagued by injuries this season, with seven first-team players currently on the sidelines for Jurgen Klopp’s squad after just under three months of the season.

One of those names on that injury list is £43 million rated new boy Thiago, who joined the club from Bayern Munich in September and has only featured for the side twice against Chelsea and Everton. The Merseyside derby saw the Spaniard fall victim to a red card challenge from Toffees forward Richarlison,

Since then Thiago has been sidelined with a knee injury and hasn’t featured for the side since – but during Jurgen Klopp’s press conference yesterday, The Athletic and Liverpool journalist James Pearce tweeted the German’s comments about the midfielder…

I’m actually quite surprised that Thiago is still injured after all this time – it makes you wonder whether the severity of the injury has been kept under wraps or whether it is simply due to the fact he just isn’t quite match ready yet and is still feeling some pain in that knee that Richarlison almost chopped in half.

No matter the case I’m excited to be able to see the 29-year-old in a Liverpool shirt again – there is no doubt about Thiago’s ability, he has been one of the best midfielders in the world for many years now, and the fact that Liverpool managed to attract him is a sign that the Reds are one of the desired destinations world football.

If we have to wait a few more weeks to find out when Thiago will be ready then I am happy to do so – talent such as his can’t be rushed and it would be a crime to rush him back to then suffer an even worse injury with him on the sidelines for even longer.
