Liverpool are reportedly keen to keep onto second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, with Jurgen Klopp rating the Ireland international very highly.

Kelleher shot to fame this season, after impressive Carabao Cup appearances where he featured in every game, scoring the deciding penalty in the final at Wembley.

Subsequently, the 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer, after showcasing his obvious talent last season.

According to top Liverpool journalist James Pearce who covers the club for The Athletic, Liverpool’s boss Jurgen Klopp has ruled out the Irishman leaving the club this summer.

“It was a smart move by Klopp giving him the honour of starting in the Carabao Cup final and that faith was rewarded.

“Kelleher is still only 23 so hopefully it will be another year at least before he moves on.” He said.

Kelleher still has plenty of time in his career to stake his claim for regular football and another season as number two to one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Alisson Becker will only be beneficial for the 23-year-old.

Liverpool will also be looking to tie down other talents at the club after letting a host of names leave Merseyside; reports suggest Joe Gomez and Naby Keita are high on the list of priorities for new contracts.
