Tottenham v Liverpool: Match Preview

|

Liverpool continues their search for a first away win of the Premier League season as they travel to North London to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

An exciting fixture that has provided numerous memorable matches over the years, but this one is especially crucial- for all the wrong reasons.

Both sides have been in patchy form as of late and will be looking to go into the World Cup break with a positive string of results.

Liverpool haven’t lost to Spurs since October 2017 in a 4-1 defeat at Wembley, winning seven and drawing three games since then.

Even in the last decade Tottenham have only managed to beat the Reds on two occasions.

However, a positive result is a must for both sides as they battle for Champions League qualification.

The Reds currently sit in 9th place, ten points behind Spurs in 3rd place in the league, however Liverpool do have a game in hand on Antonio Conte’s side.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have failed to win a single domestic away match this season, failing to do so against Fulham, Manchester United, Everton, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest before losing to Leeds United at Anfield in their last outing.

Both sides are expecting to have key injuries, with Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Joel Matip and James Milner still absent for Liverpool, whilst Tottenham are expected to be without Heung-Min Son, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Christian Romero at the weekend.
