Wolverhampton Wanderers’ winger Adama Traore has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months, and he is more than capable of breaking into their title-winning team.

What’s the situation?

The 24-year-old has just had an impressive 2019/20 campaign with the West Midlands outfit, helping them to a seventh-place finish.

The Reds’ 2-1 victory against Wolves back in January prompted some glowing comments from manager Jurgen Klopp about Traore, describing him as “unplayable in moments”, quoted by the Metro.

Is Traore one of the key ingredients to our title defence?

No

The asking price for the 24-year-old is believed to be around £75m (per Soccerlink) which would be steep considering Liverpool’s financial situation, which saw them pull out of a move for the RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

With Liverpool’s unformidable front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, some might wonder how the Spaniard would get a look in edgeways if he were to make the move to Anfield. However, he has the talent to do so.

Another dimension to Klopp’s title winners

His unorthodox style of play and the surprise that he gives to opposition defences is his secret weapon. Some can’t quite comprehend how someone with such a muscular build can have such an electric burst of pace at any given moment.

Per Whoscored, Traore has managed to average five dribbles per game, provided nine assists as well as score five goals and has accumulated a pass success rate of 74.4% from 27 starts for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

His attacking creativity would provide terrific strength in depth to this season’s newly-crowned Premier League champions, and provide a whole new dimension of play with Klopp’s side were to be struggling in a game.

Realistically though, Liverpool are not likely to stump up the £60m that Wolves reportedly want for him. Better still, it would be a fascinating insight to see how well he would perform in the famous red shirt. Plus, whether he could potentially break into the starting eleven.
