Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliott have both been nominated for the 2022 European Golden Boy award; the award that represents the best under-21 players in Europe.

Liverpool have only ever had one winner of the award; Raheem Sterling won the prestigious prize back in 2014 after a breakout season at the Reds.

This year’s list consists of 100 talents across Europe, who are touted to become the next stars of the game in future years to come.

It will be interesting to see how the Liverpool duo fare against some of the world’s best talents in their age group.

The winner of the award is decided by a mixture of votes from European journalists and organisers Tuttosport; Barcelona’s Pedri won the gong last year.

The favourites to take the title for this year’s award are Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, Barcelona’s Gavi and Real Madrid’s Champions League-winning midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

Elliott is one of four English players to feature on the list alongside Bellingham, PSV Eindhoven’s Noni Madueke and Leeds United’s Gelhardt.

Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland have all won the award, which bodes well for any future winner.
