This summer will no doubt see a big change within the Liverpool squad’s balance with players set to leave and the Reds set to make a few moves in the market to strengthen their options off the bench.

Plenty of names have been linked with a move away but one of the biggest sagas of the year has been the future of Liverpool’s 30-year-old Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum – who has been linked heavily with a move away with his most likely destination being Barcelona after manager Ronald Koeman said he was confident of securing his signature in the summer.

Should Liverpool tie Wijnaldum down?

Recent revelations have suggested that Wijnaldum has now, in fact, agreed on a pre-contract deal with the Spanish giants ahead of a move in the summer according to The Sunday Times, as cited by DaveOCKOP on Twitter, despite the recent possibilities of him staying at the club after Jurgen Klopp admitted he wanted to keep hold of the midfielder

If the news is to be true then I think this will be a devastating loss for the club given everything that Wijnaldum has done during his time on Merseyside and has been such a consistent and every present part of Klopp’s midfield three.

Having won the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup during his four and a half years here, it will be strange to no longer have Gini in the setup if the news is to be true. Although the Times reported on the supposed deal, reports from Spain via ESportts RAC1 reporter Gerard Romero, suggest that Barcelona has denied that an agreement has been made…

Whatever the truth is, it would be a shame to see Wijnaldum leave the club in the summer and if he does, he will leave a massive hole in the squad that will take a lot to be filled.
